Littlehampton

Littlehampton may not jump out as being a number one UK holiday destination, but this is because it is a place that the British love to keep to themselves. Littlehampton is a wonderful destination, the perfect place for couples and families alike to enjoy some time together on the wonderful Sussex Coast, plus it is in the perfect location for you to explore the South Downs National Park too. Of course the top attraction of the town has to be the award winning beach, but the town is also home to some amazing architecture, it boasts the natural beauty of the River Arun and has some wonderful parks and outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Discover the Town

You won’t have to look far for something to do here, as there are more than enough options for you that will keep the whole family entertained. The beaches are one of the things that you can’t help but enjoy, whether you are lounging in the warmth of the sun or playing football or Frisbee with the kids on the sand. The beaches at Littlehampton have been awarded blue flag status, so no matter whether you are enjoying the sands at East Beach or walking the traditional promenade you can be sure that everything is of a very high standard. Try your hand at a spot of kite surfing along the sand or fulfil your need for speed and enjoy a speedboat ride out to sea.  The beaches are a great place to indulge in some water sports, or you could relax for a while on the river and take things easy.

Go Crabbing

Littlehampton is one of the most popular places along the Sussex coast to go crabbing with the kids, and you will always find families along the riverside with lines in the water hoping to catch a crab or two to add to their buckets, many of the shops and stores along the waterside sell bail, and you may also find that some of the restaurants will offer bait free of charge. Hooks are not permitted when crabbing, just the lines and bait, so be sure to stick to the rules and have fun. You could always try your luck in deeper water and take a fishing trip out to sea where you could land yourself some plaice, black bream or even a sea bass.

Enjoy the View

A leisurely walk along the riverside will give you some spectacular views of the colourful harbour here. You could always make your way up to the Look and See Centre and make the most of the incredible views that it offers of the beautiful South Downs National Park and surrounding area. Then, when you get tired of the view head to the high street and grab yourself a bargain or three and chill out with a glass of something chilled in one of the bars. The town also has a museum that is free to visit as well as an ancient Roman Villa that was unearthed.
